Center Studies Walloon of Assembly and Control of materials

CEWAC is a Walloon research centre performing services, studies and research for companies especially for SMEs.

It realises calculations, modelling, conception and design in the fields of welding and fluid mechanics. It offers consultancy and technical advice in these fields and in the field of vacuum and ultrahigh vacuum. It assists companies during the development of technological demonstrators and/or industrial prototypes and up to the realisation of pilot lots. Among the other services, we can mention quality controls, guidance on welding procedures and welder qualifications, conception and realisation of test stands for customized tests (and associated procedures), technology audits and  expert’s reports.

Its three laboratories develop many activities and most of their tests are covered by the ISO 17025 accreditation.

WELDING & DESTRUCTIVE TESTING LABORATORY:

• Arc welding : MIG, (micro)TIG, (micro)plasma, laser  and hybrid laser, electron beam welding, friction welding, friction stir welding, resistance welding, mechanical joints, hybrid joints, blowpipe surfacing,  (vacuum)brazing …
• Metallography and (micro)hardness, spectrometry, electron microscopy, fractography, tensile, bending, fatigue, impact tests …

NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING LABORATORY:

• Visual inspection, penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, radiographic testing (digital and on films, micro-focus, tomography), ultrasonic testing, infrared thermography …

INDUSTRIAL HYDRAULICS LABORATORY:

• Free flow studies : valves, pumps, separators, water treatment plants, filters, ...
• Development and design of tests for extreme conditions: fire, high and low temperature, cryogenic, high and low pressure, helium leak tests, ...
